Day 15 - Evening Visit

Today, mom had a visitor.  One of her exchange students from Germany came to visit for the weekend.  He is staying about 5 blocks away in a Hotel.  They went out and did some touristy stuff while Peggy and I went to the Orphanage.  We put our best faces on while we were there.  Inside we are sad that we are going to have to leave our daughter, but we did not want to show that yet.

The exchange student Michael, gave us a gift to give Akvila.  It was some M & M's with "Ms. Green" that you can load into her and then it dispenses.  We gave this to her and she just loved playing with it.  Even though she would drop half of the M & M's on the floor.  So we did this for a while and then we started playing with some balloons.  She had a hard time trying to blow them up; so Peggy would blow one up first and then let the air out.  Then Akvila would take it and be able to blow it up.  But the face she made was so funny!  She would take a huge breath and blow as hard as she could... half of her breath would go in the balloon and the other half was being wasted around it.  If I would have thought of it I would have done a video.  Peggy then got the idea to make the "screeching" noises with them.  She enjoyed this too, blowing one up and then "screeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeech!"  After the noise started to get to us; once again Peggy comes up with the idea of releasing the balloon and having it fly around the room.  Akvila loved this too.  So whatever Moma does Akvila has to do too.  So some more time has passed and Akvila is ready to take more pictures.  Now if she reads this later in life, she will probably be mad at tėtė.  As she is leaning down to take a picture of the front of the horsey she let out a fart.  She stops, looks at us with this look like "uh oh, I shouldn't have done that."  Me and Peggy just start to bust out laughing and then she thought it was funny too.  She continues on taking pictures and I lean over to Peggy and I say "hey, I wrote this down; 'At 5pm my daughter who was taking a picture of the horsey farted for the first time in front of us.'"  Peggy just busted out laughing and then Akvila wanted to see what I wrote.  Of course she can't read English, and I said "oh it is nothing."

So, after the pictures she is playing with the balloons again and we hear another fart noise.  She smiles and says "no, balionas (which means balloon)."  She then does it again, and so we believed her... until she says something else (still not sure what exactly she says), but we know she has to go to the bathroom, again.  :-)

We played for a little while longer, then it is time for us to leave.  We met mom and Michael for dinner at the "Chilly Village."  After a long dinner we came back to the apartment, and showed Micheal the pictures before he left for the night.  It is now 22:30 and we are all tired and stressed out by todays events.

Forgot to post the pictures.

Day 15 - Phone call received

We needed a few minutes before I typed this up.  The judge DID NOT waive the waiting period and Peggy will be returning to Lithuania near the end of March.  We knew this could be a possibility and I am sure we all think this sucks.  But their law says there is a 40 day waiting period and the judge apparently did not find enough evidence to waive this during her decision.

We will visit Akvila everyday until we leave for America and probably will not tell her until right before we leave.

Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers, and if anybody wants to go with Peggy back to LT in March please let us know privately; because we cannot afford for me to come back and I hate the thought of her travelling alone.

Day 15 - Waiting for phone call

This morning we got up about 8am and had some breakfast.  Peggy came outside while I was smoking and we were just watching the parking lot in our courtyard.  Watching as vehicles try to leave and enter the area.  This is what the courtyard looks like right now, from our apartment.  There is about 2 inches of snow that fell last night.  They are expecting another 2 inches today and another inch but late evening.

While we were out there, there was 3 cars trying to come in and 2 leaving.  The one driver scraped the front bumper of the silver minivan (Left side near the top of the picture) while someone tried to guide her out.  All Peggy could do was just look at me and say "I am so glad I am not an adjuster here."

Update: I forgot to post this earlier, but since it is very early morning in America I doubt anyone has read this yet.  I wanted to talk about Peggy's dinner last night.  She made a chicken alfredo with pasta.  Now she has made the sauce from scratch before; it it is not too difficult.  In this recipe you need parmesan cheese and heavy whipping cream.  When she went shopping for these items she thought she bought the right ingredients.  When she got back to the apartment she looked up the translations.  She got the cream ok, but the cheese translated out to be "good quality hard cheese."  What the heck is that??  Since she was not going back out she used it.  Dinner turned out very good, but the cheese was very strong.  We think it ended up being a type of swiss.  But there was no holes in it like we normal see and are used to.  I just wanted to add this, because you don't always know what you are going to buy in the grocery store.

So we have about 4 hours until we hear from the Law Centre.  We are just laying around waiting as patiently as possible.  As soon as we know, you all will know.  :-)

Day 14 - Morning Visit

This morning we got up and had some french toast and got ready to go visit Akvila.  We did some more playing in the balls and then she wanted to take pictures.  So for most of the time she started taking pictures.  Most of these pictures I am posting is what she took today.

Right now Peggy and mom are going out grocery shopping.  They are also looking for a bakery so we can get a cake for tomorrow.  If the Judge approves the waiving of the waiting period, then we are going to have a little party tomorrow at the orphanage.  Sort of a "last goodbye" to the orphanage party.

Keep your fingers crossed for tomorrow.
