Today started out like any other day, get up, get ready and go to work. When I got to work I received 3 e-mails about undeliverable mail from our adoption service. We had e-mailed them yesterday to ask some more basic questions. Since we didn't hear from them, my wife decided to e-mail the Officer from USCIS to see what the status was on our paperwork. After about an hour we received a response back; "your paperwork will be processed in the order it was received. If you have any questions or comments feel free to write back." Ohhhhh I wanted to write back SOOOO bad, but I knew that if I did we probably would have gotten shuffled back down to the bottom of the pile. So I continued on with work, trying to stay calm. After talking to a few people, who helped me relax I went back to my desk.
Well to my surprise I received an e-mail back from USCIS with an attachment and the e-mail states: "
I wanted to follow up with you to let you know that I was able to render a favorable decision on the extension in question. Due to your time constraints, I have attached a copy of your approval notice for your convenience. In addition, I will also send the attached to the National Visa Center (NVC) via email and copy the appropriate post abroad. Our office will send the send the actual file in question to the NVC via express mail shortly.
It was our approval paperwork!! We are leaving for Lithuania this week!!! I immediately called my wife to see if she was crying. When she answered the phone I asked her
'are you crying?'
She said "why?"
'Have you not checked your e-mail?'
Then she was so ecstatic!
The day that started so crappy, turned out to be the best news day we could receive. So we are currently taking off work until we leave... which should be either Thursday or Friday. I just got home from work, but I will be writing more later tonight.
