Day 10 - Afternoon and evening

Ok, so going to a Catholic Church is pretty similar anywhere.  The prayers are the same, the service is the same but when they are speaking a different language it is still boring (haha).  We went to the Church of St. Nicholas.  The current building was built in the 16th century.  The church is very plain on the outside but had an beautiful ornate alter.  The pews were hardwood and the kneelers were attached and had no padding (ouch).  It was freezing cold inside, I could see my breath.  There were very few words I understood and I swear one time the priest said "glazed donuts" and I thought that sounded pretty good about now.

After mom & I got back from church we got ready to go do some sight seeing.  We headed for Cathedral square:

Note: While mom & I were in here some woman with a mustache started jabbering at us in Lithuanian.  We had no idea what she was saying but it looked like she was smiling.  Oh well, we just turned and walked away because we told her we did not speak Lithuanian and she just kept talking.

Mom standing on the ice rink in front of the Museum.  Well, it is a sidewalk covered in ice.

The sun started to go down so we headed back toward the apartment.  There were a few street vendors out so we bought some small souveniers.  We then went into an amber shop and looked at the jewelry and bought some postcards.  While walking down the street a Russian man started talking to me and telling me that Lithuanians don't like Russians and wanted me to come in to their store and buy something.  Wayne told him no and he then cussed at us as we walked away.  Wayne was hungry and cranky so we decided to go out to dinner rather than waiting to make something.  So we went next door to Čili Kaimas and had dinner.

ŠV. Ekstra" .5 L
Plikyta arbata
Grybienė j. dounos kubilėlyje
Kebab su vištiena/česnak. pdž.
Višt. kepsnys, įdarytas feta
Gruzdinti koldūnai su mėsa

which is:
Švyturys Extra '.5 L (beer)
Scalded tea (hot black tea)
Mushroom soup in rye bread bowl
Kebab with chicken / garlic. (Basically a sandwich wrap that is grilled with chicken, cabbage, tomato, onion and a mayo sauce; Wayne did not enjoy)
Chicken breast roast stuffed with feta cheese
Deep fried dumplings with meat (these were awesome.  Little dumplings with meat inside, covered with a mushroom cream sauce with ham and cheese on top)

No room for dessert tonight.  I was wanting the strudel with curd (kind of like a cheese danish) but didn't have room because I ate all the dumplings.  So we are back now and watching TV.  There is not much to watch: CNN, BBC, Showtime, Travel Channel and Discovery Channel.  We are soooooo tired of hearing about Cairo.
