Day 5 - Visiting Akvila

This morning Peg forgot to set the alarm and with everything that happened yesterday, we all slept very well.  We raced around this morning, had a cup of coffee got dressed and the taksi was waiting for us.

The person from the Law office was the same person that went with us last night.  She is very nice and helped us with some of our translation difficulties.  We got to the orphanage, Akvila took Peg's hand and we went downstairs to the play area.  Egnata (sorry I forget her name and the spelling) spoke with Akvila and explained a few things to her.  To find out, Akvila thought we promised to bring her back after a little while last night; and when Peg tried to change her into her pajamas, she thought she wasn't going to go back.  We had a very good visit; there was some talk about bringing her back; but Akvila said "ne, ne, ne" and wouldn't want to talk about it.

After we left we went to the lawyers office.  We spoke with Elona and we found out some more interesting things that we didn't know.  The whole Akvila coming back to the apartment was because of the flu epidemic in Vinlius.  We finally understood, swine flu is going around pretty bad right now.  Bringing Akvila back to the orphanage did not make them very happy.  They do not want to bring it into their "home."  So if for some reason we bring Akvila back here again, it would be to stay. Unless of course the Judge does not waive the 40 day waiting period; then she must go back.  The second thing is the people from the Law Centre will only go to the Orphanage 6 times with us.  Since we have used 4 times already, we will be going by ourselves tonight and for a few more times.  We will have to break down this langauge barrier... using "love" as our comminucation.

Once we left the lawyers we were hungry.  There is a "Hesburger" place next door, so we got some food to go.  Apparently nobody uses mustard around here.  We couldn't find it in the store either.  The use ketchup and mayo.  The mayo that was on the burger was almost like a tartar sauce.  Kind of like the "Special Sauce" at McDonalds, but more white in color.

Peg and mom went done to the little store to buy more groceries.  We need to plan lunches better.  Around here lunch is there big meal.  Usually it is a soup (milk soup w/vegetables and potatoes - I haven't tried it, but I am thinking along the lines of a "Chowder") and some meat or fish.  For dinner they eat light, so it is usually leftover soup and maybe some type of light dessert.  Peg is also going to pick up some "Alus"... after last night we could use a cold beer.  Of course right now, I would love to have a steak or even a slab of ribs!  I think I will be coming back to the states a little lighter.

FYI, I update the pictures post... with what information I knew.
