Day 11 - Walking around town

Today I took mom for a walk, she wanted to see where her former exchange student Michael will be staying when he comes in to visit this Friday.  On the map it looked to be about 5 blocks away, no problem right!  Well it was, however the blocks in old town are HUGE.  The street to get there was uphill most of the way.  We did find a Maxima XXX on the way back so we did a little shopping.  And no XXX does not mean that, it just means it is a XXXL store.  It's like Super Walmart.

 Russian Orthodox Church
Look how high we are!

One end of the street, and the next picture is if you turn around and look the other way.

Yes this is the same street.
 Lots of graffiti

 Bright blue building stuck out

 Me saying... Come on Mom!
My mother has a fascination with all the wrought iron gates.

It was a very long walk and carrying some groceries on the way back made me tired and cranky.  I knew once we got back I still had to go to the near by grocery for water and some other items because I was not carrying those all the way back.  Of course there was a begger sitting on the steps as Wayne & I were leaving the IKI store and then some guy was trying to bum cigarettes on the street.  There are too many beggers around here!

Tomorrow we have to take Akvila to the Embassy doctor for her vaccinations.  Hopefully she won't be too mad at us afterward.  Wish us luck!
