This morning when we got up we hopped onto the computer to check our facebook comments and e-mails. Thank you all for your support and well wishes/prayers. One of my sisters and one of Peggy's sister was IMing us wanting to see how we were doing. We talked to them a little bit before they had to go to sleep. It is always nice to be able to talk to families from home.
Peg made breakfast this morning; scrabbled egg omelet. This helped us get our strength and energy for the day. We met our Taksi about 9:40 am, and rode to the orphanage with Edetta (spelling is wrong I am sure). We asked her to ask some questions about how Akvila was doing. We played for a little bit, then she asked Akvila some questions we had. Akvila started to get quiet and nervous. She is unsure about coming to America, she wants to be with mummy, but she does not want to leave the little kids. She asked if she can ever come back to the orphanage to visit. We never heard the english translation to this answer. I am sure it was probably a no. After about this time, she wanted to go back upstairs with the little ones. We still had 30 minutes left; so Peg took her into her arms and hugged and kissed her for a while. Peggy was sad by her wanting to go. After about 15 minutes of this, we went upstairs to say our goodbyes.
We went to our lawyers office after we left the orphanage. We met our lawyer Egle; she will be presenting our case to a Closed Circuit Court. There will only be 8 or 9 people in the court room. Mom will have to stay home, since she is not part of the adoption process. We will have to make good arguments to the judge so she will consider waiving the 40 day waiting period.
We will not be going back to the orphanage tonight, we have court tomorrow at 9am, and the taksi is going to pick us up at 8:15am. We wanted to make sure we got everything we want to say to the judge and get a good nights sleep. Tomorrow will be very emotional, but we will not find out an answer if she will go with us or not until maybe as late as the 11th of Feb.
As a treat, tonight we are going out to a restuarant to try some authentic Lithaunian food. Hopefully this won't affect our stomach too much for court tomorrow.
I love it when I can "catch" you on! I was tired when I had to get up this morning though!
ReplyDeleteWanted you to know that I did make a appointment with my doctor for friday afternoon. Because this is ridicules! I have had this crap since Halloween!!!!! Just when I think I am over it... BAM!
Akvila is so precious to be concerned about the "little kids". She must have been like a wonderful big sister/mommy to them. I really had not thought about how sad she might be about leaving the only home and family she has ever known. To come to "America", that big, scary place that is sooooo far away. It is going to be so hard for all of you. I imagine it will be a very teary ride home on the plane.
Hope you are having a wonderful evening out to dinner! (cuz that is where you are now). Get some rest and please know... that you are going to do great with the judge! How could they NOT love you???? I might be a smidge biased.....naw!
Love you all~~
I agree with Jessica! How could the judge not love you guys!
ReplyDeleteAlso, I think Akvila may feel torn between the other little kids and the orphanage, which is all she's known, and being with you. I feel like that's why she wanted to go back to the kids. She knows why you guys are there and that in a matter of time she's going to be coming home with you.
Well, it's about 7:20 AM for you guys so you're up and about getting ready court. Best of luck! And even though it's 11:20 here and I'll be sleeping soon - you guys are in my thoughts and I can't wait to hear how it went :-)
